So I have been really busy at my new job, which has everything else on hold while I try to learn it all. Good news on that front as people seem to be talking about me there and I may have a promotion in my near future.

That is not saying, though, that my writing life is put away. It has just had to take a bit of a backseat. But I think things are leveling out. I also have some cool news about a book I illustrated. Hope to share it soon.

So on to the question of the month.

When do you know your story is ready?

This is a hard one for sure. I mean is it ever ready? As artist we can work on something forever if we were allowed. Also sometimes we get sick of looking at the same piece of art and want to be done with it or if we are honest put it in a box for a few years and deal with it later.

I guess the best answer is, a story is ready when we are ready to let it go.

Hope everyone is well. I can't wait to be back blogging regularly. As always have fun and keep writing.

  2. Cool the job is going well.
An artist's vision and what we produce are never the same thing, which is why we will always strive to make it better.

  4. I'm not sure we'll ever think our stories are ready. It may just come down to the point in time that we're sick of looking at it anymore. :) Congrats on the job.

  5. I hope you get back to blogging soon too. But congrats on the new job and the possible promotion!

I don't know when they are ready either, I suppose when you get sick of reading it?

  6. I wanted to stop by to return the blog visit and thank you for taking the time to comment on mine. Always nice to find another author and have to tell you that I can soooo relate to the time and work dilemma. And that's so true about the question of when it's done. I don't write fiction but I have the same problem. Every re-read wants another tweak or two and by that time it seems like it will be the most boring book in the world anyway so it's time to quit!
