F is for...

FALCON

Fun fact: Falcon's can dive at 200 mph making them the fastest creatures on the planet. Its tapered wings make it very agile in the air. This combination of speed and agility leaves very few predators. Of course humans are among the few killing this beautiful creature.

Writing Prompt

"I did it uncle. I trained him." The young boy held his falcon on a gloved hand.

"I see," Herald said. "This is a special day then."

Herald watched the boy smile and run back out into the field. He'd helped him learn to be a falconer. Now he would have to make him a king.

Thank you guys. See you tomorrow.

  5. Falconry is quite a sport. Sinlaw paints a lot of birds from friends who participate in this sport. His paintings are wonderful. Sorry you didn't do Fennec Foxes though, I do so love them. 200 mph is quite something isn't it?

  6. I wonder what it would have been like to live in a time when there were falconers. And ruling kings, for that matter. That would have been (quite possibly) the best job ever.

  8. A falconer? That sounds like an epic thing to be. ;) I mean, I guess being a falcon would be epic, too.

  12. The idea of anything coming at me at 200mph is scary. Especially if that thing has a sharp beak and talons. Keep it up Brandon. I'm enjoying your drawings and short stories.

  13. 200 mph?? Whoa! Better be sure of where he's aiming, then. Not much maneuvering room at that speed.

  15. Falcons are regal creatures. We have one around here (maybe it's two) and they are beautiful to watch. The detail in your drawing of him is amazing.

  21. I loved your writing prompt. Many possibilities there. Most enticing to write them. Dragons can dive at great speeds too, nut the difference in tons is an important factor. At least for a dragon of my size.

  22. Beautiful bird.
I had some friends at our local Renn Faire that did a birds of prey show. So amazing.
