I finally got my letter!!!

So anyone who really knows me knows I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I read the books at a key point in my writing career and they brought me back to what I loved about story telling in the first place.

So for my birthday, and Amanda and my anniversary, we took a trip to Universal Studious so that I could go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!!

It was truly everything I had hoped it would be.

I got a Wand.

I wore a house robe.

I drank a Butterbeer.

I rode a certain train.

I even saw my favorite castle.

It was amazing, but honestly more than just a bit of fun and some wish fulfillment it really cemented something in me. As artist all we have are ideas. This can create moments of great doubt. I have said before that I agree with some of my favorite authors, ideas are cheap. It is the artist that is important, but the idea is a great thing if we pursue it.

Being at Universal Studios and at the Disney Springs board walk. I saw the art of these people's ideas. Buildings made from them. People dressed as them. Merchandise by the ton. All of this, every fantastical thing, started with an idea.

So I created a new mantra for myself. Here it is:

An idea, with a bit of luck, executed to perfection, makes dreams come true.

I will probably post more pics from the trip in the next few blogs. There was just so much to see and do.

I hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for listening, see you next time

  1. Good to hear from you!
For the Harry Potter fan, that is the perfect vacation trip. Did you stay on site? (Even better.) And don't you wish you could bring a barrel full of butter beer home?

    1. I do, it was really good.

We stayed at a Disney resort. It was nice, but we did have to drive to Universal, small problems for such an awesome vacation.

  4. So here am I puzzling, what letter? I finally remembered the letters Harry got. I am not a devotee but I have enjoyed the movies. Only read one book unfortunately. I would love to go to the Wizarding World. Lots of fun. I would love to see a Qiddich game.

  6. For no reason in particular, I'd never read the books nor seen the movies until a few short months ago, when I got to see all of the films in a matter of weeks. Enjoyed them immensely! Although I haven't read the books (yet!), I can safely say that J.K. Rowling is an incredible plotter! It's easy to see why you're such a fan, and it sounds like you had a great visit.

  7. I've only been to the Potter parks (or rather, park sections) once, but I thought they were really cool. Disney's my mainstay. I'm twenty, and I've been to Walt Disney World right around twenty times.
